4pm at the market

photo 312
I went into town this afternoon with a long list of things I needed to buy. I came home with a box of Christmas crackers and a copy of PD James's 'Death Comes to Pemberley', neither of which were on my list, and almost nothing else. I've no idea why I bought the crackers but I'm quite excited about the book which is a 'sequel' to Pride and Prejudice. PD James is an expert on Jane Austin so I hope she manages to introduce a murder into genteel Pemberley without the whole story being totally ridiculous. I haven't read any reviews so I'll find out soon. PD James is 91 so I'm thinking there's still time for me to write a novel....I just need a good idea, a few plot twists, some character development......

Thanks for the fabulous response to yesterday's shot - I was surprised and very pleased!

This is a really lovely shot of the market, I love the warm glow shining out on a rainy night. Fav.
I bought the same book on a whim on Saturday and started to read it on Sunday! I love how she has managed to write it in the same style as Jane Austen, so far so good with the story.

The bright colours are a perfect foil against the darkness and wet of the day. Happy reading.

@kaisisland It was in the afternoon and I've never seen it so quiet - the dark and weather must have put people off - the stall holders looked pretty fed up...

Judith, the light and atmosphere are always special at dusk ...love how the stall is lit and the fruit is vibrant :)...enjoy your novel

I had heard that she was writing a sequel but had forgotten, will be interested to know what you think !!! funnily enough I took a very similar shot today in Fleetwood but mine was in daylight & not as interesting as this so I discarded it !! Lovely winter light & shiny pavements !!

Great photo, with lots of interest. You've managed to get a very colourful shot on what was probably one of the greyest days we've had this year! The reflections in the wet stones in the foreground are a nice touch. By coincidence PD James was on the radio talking about the book as I drove home around this time, so your narrative made some sense (literature not being one of my strong points)!

I love the pre-christmas, early-evening atmosphere of this shot and the reflections on the bottom. Very pretty! Do tell if the book was good :)!
