There are three 'Braille maps' in Cambridge, two outside Great St Mary's Church in the city centre. This one is a scale model of the Colleges. I don't know how much practical use they are if you can't see but at least you could get an idea of the shape of the buildings.
This is lovely. I'd love to visit Cambridge again. Been there twice and each time have loved different things about it. Always been in summer when things are green and days warm!
This is a lovely solid piece of work & I would love to rum my hands over that ! Thank fully I have good sight but would imagine it must help ! Lovely solid texture well portrayed Judith !
Very good capture of this, I'm not sure how meaningful they'd be to someone who has never seen, but perhaps to someone who has lost their sight. By the way I was proposed to in Cambridge on New Year's Eve all those years ago!
They are very much of practical use - a blind person can't get the whole scope of the size and shape of a building, or a neighborhood, and the map feature is very helpful for orientation without having to remember a lot of words or depend on someone else's sense of (or lack thereof) direction. Clever idea. Thanks for sharing!!!
