War Horse by judithg

War Horse

I know - another bike photo. I just can't help myself. This one was parked in an odd place with King's as a backdrop so what's a girl with a camera to do? I'm wondering if I've made a mistake cropping out the chapel but I've broken in to my daughter's computer and I have a very sore hand (thanks to Monty and a hooping accident) so I'm just going to hit save. Oh the title - you could say this bike and its basket have done good service ... and I'm looking forward to seeing the film (released in the UK today) and having a really good cry!!!
Yes, another bike shot. But another fabulous one at that! Haven't been to the cinema since the King's Speech, so looking forward to the Warhorse too.

beautiful

There can't be too many bike photos! ;-) And I like the way you cropped this. It sure looks like it has a history! Sorry to hear about your hand; feel better soon!
January 13th, 2012
A girl has to love her bike. I like the crop with the focus on the bike.
January 13th, 2012
I have heard that it's actually a happy ending....haven't seen it yet though! I like the crop, and the bars on top and bottom, reminded me of a film still and that was before I read the description. Even more so after.
January 13th, 2012
Love this and the way its cropped very effective!
January 13th, 2012
@shadesofgrey It's 'Cinemascope' effect turned sepia. I'll cry just as hard if it's a happy ending - don't know when I'll get to see it yet...
January 13th, 2012
I think the cropping is just fine and I love your bike photos...keep 'em coming!
January 13th, 2012
I really like your cropping! Hope you get to see it soon!

Jo
It's a very cool bike. The basket reminds me of the old woman in Wizard of Oz.
January 13th, 2012
i like this bike photo... looks like it could have been taken in another era
January 13th, 2012
awesome coloring and composition! totally cool!
January 13th, 2012
Bicycles always seem to work in photos - and the tones really add to this already great shot.
January 13th, 2012
It looks terrific in B&W. I'd love to see the film too, but we've just booked to see the play, so may have to see that first.
January 13th, 2012
great composition and tones, nice textures too
January 13th, 2012
I love bike shots! It's great!
January 13th, 2012
Love the composition and tones, great shot.
I better not watch that film then, been a tad emotional this week, which is very unusual for me. As my friends say I am a mans man if you get me.
January 13th, 2012
This is fantastic!
January 13th, 2012
Wonderfully edited and cropped! So yes, the cropping was a good idea :)
January 13th, 2012
excellent! looks top quality in b&w..
warhorse is gonna be a weeper.
January 13th, 2012
The wicker of the basket looks well & truly run in, there's something about a basket on a bike ! The bicycle looks quite old fashioned too & fit for someone like Miss Marple ! The narrow perspective works well & of course it couldn't be in anything but b/w !!
I went to see The Iron Lady yesterday & I agreed with all the critics, I think they missed a trick & didn't like the POV they took, very slow in parts but Meryl was excellent. Saw the trailer for War Horse & am definitely going to that next week !
January 13th, 2012
The crop is fine. Such a strong image of the bike, really good. We all so love our bike photos, why is that? Yes War Horse on our list too.
January 13th, 2012
I love this, very yesteryear...
January 13th, 2012
@sleepdozer57 I can feel a 'Cinema Paradiso' coming on - I cried so much in that that my face was sore....
January 13th, 2012
@happypat I'd heard that it is good but you can't do M Thatcher without including the political background...
January 13th, 2012
Glad you can still post with your computer transferring - and I know it's you because of the subject matter!! Very nice! Hope your hand is feeling better soon and that Monty is properly remorseful.
January 13th, 2012
@bpaquette Not nearly remorseful enough!
January 13th, 2012
Fav. This is marvellous! I'd have it printed huge and put on my wall!
January 13th, 2012
Fantastic shot, Great in B&W and lovely composition, how thoughtful of somebody to leave a bike there.
January 13th, 2012

Absolute fav! Super bike shot with King's as its backdrop. Great in black and white. And ditto, echoing your sentiments about 'War Horse' - would have dearly loved to see it on the stage, but the cinema will do!!
