I took various pics that I liked today but they were all a bit fuzzy from rain on the lens so this is one from Thursday. I originally edited it in Picnik in Google+ as we will have to move to that in April. Once I'd managed to access the editing software (not hard once you know how but I didn't know how) it was like a basic variation of the Picnik we know and love. Hopefully they will upgrade it by April. However I was a bit irritated by the Google+ part trying to link me up with friends and I couldn't understand how to save the edited files properly. It seemed to lose some of the editing or shrink the file down to < 100kb and the quality was poor. So I'll have to find a tutorial and try again... The old Picnik wasn't broken so I don't know why they're ruining it but that's 'progress'.
Anyway - the back gate of Trinity is just seen on the left of this bicycle. The wall along here is fabulous and has been unspoilt by 'modernisation' by the Georgians - or since. I have been ridiculously rubbish for this week's theme given the opportunities in this city - this is my effort of an antique wall.
I was surprised & disappointed to find Picnic closing, not sure about the google bit , I will have to ask my oracle Jack when he comes round, he said he will put me on Photoshop !! :Lovely bicycle & very shiny & well looked after !! I like the way it is leaning against that glorious stone wall !
@fueast Actually these days I get excited when there's a bike on its own - usually there's a dodgy-looking thing with a Tesco bag over the saddle ruining the scene.
Those were some very clever masons! Judith, your bike pictures never bore me!! Thanks also for tackling the picnik thing. Keep us posted on how you figure it out!
A great composition Judith, I love the textures in the wall ....you could try B/W here too as I think there is a terrific monochrome image to be revealed
That Google+ is really strange...it wants me to 'make circles' with people I have never heard. I think it looks at who you may have 'once emailed' and goes recursively into infinity through their contacts and comes up with the most obscure list you could imagine !
@happypat Photoshop CS is very hard and very expensive , you should go for Photoshop Elements, much cheaper and it will do all things you need :)
@phil_howcroft Thanks Phil - I think you're right about the B&W - I didn't try it because I thought I'd like it and then it wouldn't show the different coloured bricks! I don't like the whole sharing element of Google+ - I want to share my photos with people who share theirs back not with random people I may have met once.
Great shot Judith - love the textures and patterns of the wall - never can go wrong with a bike shot! Love it! The whole Piknik thing sounds a nightmare, quite glad I never go started with it - I hate change!!
I think Piknic and Picasa programmes do make your photos smaller and will lose quality the more you work on them. Whereas Lightroom and PS don't. There is a free version of Lightroom 4 Beta out at the moment. I've heard it's very very gpod.
