Crocuses and Porters with bowler hats. Last year the weather was too cold for a really good crocus display behind Trinity but today it is looking magnificent. About 30 trees have been executed along The Backs - some I think to make room for bigger neighbours but it's still a lot to go at the same time.
Still desperately trying to catch up on work and not making great progress.
One day a camel...the next so traditionally English! This is fabulous and so much more intersting with the passing porter......the rise in temps and a bit of sun has opened the crocuses today......a def fave Judith!
It does look like an old painting. It's the background. Has that old canvas look. Perfect timing catching the man, just adds to that timelessness, nice to see the crocus.
It reminds me of a song - 'And along came a bloke in a bowler which he lifted and scratched 'is 'ead' I think it's from Right said Fred (not the modern one). Love the shot.
Judith, thank you for your comments today. Your photos are so wonderful. We're back in Cambridge some time in May - if you were around for half an hour it would be great to meet for a coffee.
Sorry re the tree execution. Years ago we came upon a tree graveyard on our hike...looked like a battleground. It took a while before I could go back. Since then, I am looking at it as "it's a done deal and you might as well enjoy what is here. And the view of the ocean improved with the clear cut" I love the way the crocusi and the man seem to be dialoguing
@fueast That's only a small part - I might try and take the proper display if the sun's out tomorrow. He was smiling so at least he wasn't thinking, 'That dog's on the flowers!'
@judithg aha you missed me! Yes I have worked hard today. Really good day for a change - nearly finished draft 1 of the review, interesting meeting at the Council. You feel worse because of the contrast to last week. I feel better cos last week was awful!
@fueast You're right there - and then there's the piles of washing and the people STILL messing about re the group travel I'm supposed to have finished organising for now etc etc. Good job on the review - references - yuck!!
I wonder what the porter thought as he walked past..." not that wild women again, should she not be taking pictures of bicycles. "...lol..take care, glad you had a good half term holiday...
Lovely play of colours, contrasts and textures! Looks like the man has a little quirky spring in his step which gives the photo a lighthearted feeling.
amazing
