The buildings on the right are actually university departments rather than colleges. Visitors to the city often ask to be directed to 'The University'. This always causes some difficulty as the buildings are spread all over town. These buildings are parts of Biological Anthropology - the same department as the building with Darwin's writings on the window but a different street. Running all along the left hand side is Pembroke College. It's rare to see the street this quiet as it's often busy with cars and in term time, between lectures, you can't cross for hundreds of bikes. I took it yesterday as I didn't want to risk my camera in today's torrential rain.
Aha, you took it yesterday! That explains things - my (near) Cambridge daughter got completely soaked today (and fell in the mud in her chicken run into the bargain ....) Nice to remember what dry looks like ...
This is a lovely shot & I can't help but admire how all your props eg. bicycles, people are all in an aesthetically pleasing place & well balanced. More stunning buildings & a lovely curve at the end leaving us wanting to know what is round the bend !
You do such a great job of delicately processing and enriching the mood of your environments. I love the curve taking my eye out to ...where? and the people strolling
@fueast Well it was a shocker and my camera bag lets the damp in. And Monty was pulling yesterday and my poorly shoulder has been getting worse and worse. Obviously I could have done an indoor shot if I'd had any gumption at all.
@judithg I'm not feeling the love at the moment either, if i'd had anyone else to walk the dog today it would have been filler city. Actually not that I have any decent fillers left...
Quite fascinating way faculties are located in streets. We saw the same in Utrecht. Here universities all contained within large planned campuses. It must be nice to be part of town, not apart
Great shot!
