A filler today from earlier in the week. I just took a few rubbish iPhone pics today - absolute rain-induced lethargy has set in. I'm not even being a good commenter - apologies one and all and normal service will be resumed soon. This is Fitzbillies Coffee Shop - the corner has windows on both sides so this is looking through both with the Pitt Building in the background. There were a few students buried under notes in there - so 'chin up' to all of you who are revising or completing thesis work or whatever. Adam's headmaster keeps sending jovial e-mails saying that the rain is good for revision but I think he must be the only person feeling the love.
@jgpittenger It's a she (I darkened her up because I felt a bit intrusive taking this picture) but yes - she did look rather weary. Mind you she had better reason than I do!!
Nice one Judith - like Jane I thought it was a male student with long hair but I really like the almost silhouette effect and the coffee pots in the foreground and lighting of the stonework. Really good - it tells a story!
great effect. If ts any consolation I know just how you feel , and thought I was teh only one wanting to crawl under a duvet with agood book for a week.
She looks very intent on her studies & can picture where she is because we have seen this coffee shop before !! Love the way you have fitted her in between the coffee pots !! Lots of households busy revising & worrying so roll on the summer hols & all be over for a bit !
This is such a great shot, so captured the personal feel. Lovely tones and composition. Totally with you on the rain, induced lethargy describes it perfectly.
Oh, what a headteacher... I would prefer sunshine to be honest. The rain is rather depressing - although I am glad I am not missing out on too much with my nasty cold. Let's hope for a sunny week!!!
I think we have a very narrow window of climatic conditions that induce us to work, I am suffering a similar lethargy from 35ºC and 95% humidity. However, I like informality of your shot and I do like the use of the cafetières as decor.
@traeumerlein87 Yes - it's actually terrible revision weather - my son needs the fresh air and exercise in between sessions (not so bad for my daughter who does karate indoors). Hope you're better soon!
Beautifully framed and I love the moody atmosphere you capture in some of your shots. Your narrative makes me want to take the next flight to the U.K. and run around Cambridge for a few days :)
