Hands that don't do dishes

I really don't like today's photo so I'm going with an extra from a couple of weeks ago as well. I was quite taken with the new models in the window of Ede and Ravenscroft but the wooden hands are spookily real. Luckily there are no heads involved. This is where you go to get your gown when you're summoned to the House of Lords or whatever. You can see the tailoring through the grilles in the pavement and they were making a lovely red and ermine confection when I took this photo. The bright colour caught Monty's eye and he stared down the grille on red alert - leaping backwards, barking and apparently terrified when the man reappeared at his work desk. It's good to know I'm in brave hands when I go out walking.
good for monty, nothing like a brave little dog beside your side !!!! Especially when a grille keeps them away from you !!!!!!!

I like the 'mild green' of the tie !!

Ah yes I do like the gents that come to Leeds from there during graduation. They're not still using real ermine though are they??

@fueast I was wondering that - seems unlikely but some of the old duffers in the Lords probably expect it.

Hmmmm, very elegant but I am not sure about that tie ....

Like the tie with the shirt - not sure about the jacket. I've never picked out ties for my husband because he is so awesome at it.

You do tell a good tale & also a good title & idea! These are rather weird hands but this sounds a special shop so they are allowed different !

@happypat I've been waiting for ages for them to have a display of fancy gowns - I'll take another shot if they do as they are pretty special!

This is eerie and compelling. I can't work out whether i like it as it makes me feel a little uneasy. Great picture though.

A very unusual shot - you're good at those! We were in Cambridge yesterday visiting the Fitzwilliam with friends.

I will never been summoned to the House of Lords, so window shopping works for me!

I like this... in a strange way!! Walked round that corner many a time but never noticed the grilles in the pavement .

Nice style ;))!

@mejbronant No I only noticed them when I was loitering to take other pics - interesting but embarrassing of they look up and catch you staring.

Very nice!

Such fancy hands on the mannequin. Very shiny. I guess befitting the high quality of clothes made there. Very nice shot.

Totally love this. fav! Great and eye catching and weird. Cayenne is like Monty as a fierce (not) protecteress (not)
April 30th, 2012
Very cool and interesting shot. One of those that takes a little looking at :o) xx
April 30th, 2012
Those are hands that don't have to knot tie either
April 30th, 2012
LOL to Monty being a scaredy-dog! interesting shot here - nice composition...now I eant to see down the grille that Monty didn't like!
April 30th, 2012
@sparkle I've tried but the glass needs a clean and the photos are useless - such a shame as it's interesting under there!
April 30th, 2012
@judithg need to get a secret pass inside then...do they need consultants?? LOL!
April 30th, 2012
@sparkle Maybe if I buy a lot of ties....!!!

Such a funny tale, or is it tail? Just so like dogs, good ole Monty. These hands look really spooky, well spotted.

Nice scene and close-up!

Those hands really are weirdly real, despite being obviously wood.

Founded in 1689! British tradition at its finest. I had to look them up. It seems surreal they have a website but it's great to know that, in some ways, they keep up with the times :)) Oh, great Monty story, too.
