Scuds by judithg

Scuds

Scudamore's is the largest and oldest punt hire company in Cambridge having been founded by F Scudamore in 1910. It's also known to us as 'the enemy' as Rachel works for my neighbour's company, Cambridge Chauffeur Punts! Normally speaking in May these punts should be all set up with cushions and tartan blankets and be sauntering up and down the river with happy customers. As it is they've taken the cushions and blankets out to keep them dry and there are hardly any out on the water. The river is flowing extremely fast and I saw one group out with two punters as it's so difficult to get up river. I'm glad Rachel isn't working at the moment - too dangerous if you fall in.
We don't have a beach or sunshine or half naked people to aid me in the artist challenge at the moment so this is my latest effort....
That's a very cool composition and I love all of the textures in the BW

May 5th, 2012
Looks like a really old photo! I like it!
May 5th, 2012
awesome - your editing really brings out the text, and I think it makes it look a lot better than it does in "real life"! (now I'm getting all philosophical and musing on whether editing a photo removes it from the realm of "real life", or enhances that life somehow...) I also dislike Scudamore's, although mostly because they're overpriced and as an alumnus I can get punts much cheaper from Darwin.

Ha ha I thought these punts didn't look up to much ! I'm sure the C.C. punts are far better.Joking aside its a great photo Judith

Fantastic processing. Love the border.
May 5th, 2012
beautiful post processing judith, the monochrome works for me and yes it falls into the 'artistic' genre
May 5th, 2012
Nicely done. They were trying to sell punt trips in the rain last Saturday and not having much luck.
May 5th, 2012
@busylady Ive never seen them so quiet - must be fed up & more rain forecast. It wouldn't be so bad if it warmed up!
May 5th, 2012
Really good processing Judith. Looks like an old postcard in a dusty old album.
May 5th, 2012
Lovely processing. Doesn't look too inviting, so your anti-advertising is working!
May 5th, 2012
Lovely, I thought they had stopped the punts opperating at the moment because of the level of the Camb?
May 5th, 2012
Great composition and processing. Does look like a painting. Glad ravel isn't risking her life in the fast water
May 5th, 2012
@lesleyallen There were some chauffeur punters out but not many - it's really hard work and very fast & deep so I wouldn't be surprised if they do close it.
May 5th, 2012
I love these shots of yours... This has an old-world flavor to it. Very nice.

May 8th, 2012
Gorgeous - fav. I've found this in Picmonkey too (am I right?) - but haven't taken a photo to suit using it yet! I think it's particularly effective/dramatic for the right subject/photo.
May 9th, 2012
@lluniau Yes this is the frames version - I like it a lot and it's good faded out too.
May 9th, 2012
@judithg I'll have to be on the lookout for something that suits it!
