Bored with my shots from today so a filler from the end of August when we last had rain. It got bumped out by a puddle shot. The brass flower studs were inserted into the pavement at various odd places by Cambridge City Council for a reason I've never understood. Pretty enough but absolutely lethal when wet. I've nearly come a cropper a few times - but they do make you look down at the ground and see pretty things lying around.
I got all excited when I saw your brass flower. I remember them in Cambridge and I thought I was going to get an explanation!! The wet autumnal leaves are so pretty. Pity it's that time of year again!
@mejbronant Well I don't want to disappoint so.... I've found the Cambridge City Council planning meeting and it is a 'Flower path' designed to encourage people to walk from St John's College down to Magdalen College and beyond. The flowers are copied from designs used in the architecture of the two colleges. Originally the artist wanted a row of flowers crossing the road at Magdalen but it was rejected due to road safety fears and also a Haiku poem outside St John's which was rejected after concerns from the college about the text used. They are pretty but very slippery when wet. The bollards around there are supposed to make pedestrians take extra caution when leaving the pedestrian area but I think blind and wheelchair-bound people must hate them!
You wouldn't want to get your high heel stuck in one of these but I like the idea of the flower path & the leaves look very pretty there but going golden....Autumn is upon us!
