Multi-Coloured Swap Shop by judithg

Multi-Coloured Swap Shop

I can't tell you how many times I've photographed Bridge Street and finally it's made it. Probably because I'm so desperate for some colour. And maybe because I managed to zoom in enough to avoid one of the annoying traffic lights. A very ancient street that used to house various brothels and opium dens and now houses some of the few independent shops that can afford Cambridge rents. Just calming down after I with some difficulty changed Adam's optician's appointment to avoid basketball only to be told (8 hours after I texted him) that it's now in the middle of 'more important' hockey training and can I change it back. I doubt it - it's tomorrow. Grrr.
Three good things:
1. Mum and Dad have tracked down why the Christmas gift they arranged to send me hasn't arrived - it's been booked in for Feb 2014.
2. I've finally made this year's blackberry jam and I hope it will cheer up my friend who's ill.
3. The Royals are coming tomorrow. Will and Kate are coming to see their Duchy. I will go and mingle with the flag wavers - anything for a novel photo and they seem nice!
This is a wonderful picture. I love everything about it - the colors, the bikes, the old houses - perfect!

Love the higgledy-piggledy buildings.
Is postponing Christmas until Feb an option? I'd be interested...

@cdonohoue I'm guessing like me you could afford some (Save the Children, the flower shop and the newsagent) but not Bang and Olufsen and the designer dress place!! There's a nice handbag place that's alright for a special treat as well.

What a brilliant photo! I never thought of taking a shot from here. Enjoy the Royals tomorrow - looking forward to seeing your pictures. Hope it's not raining - what a time of year to come!

@humphreyhippo Mmmm 2014 - even better! @busylady I know - I think we've been well down their list after more exotic places. They are getting a tour of 'Cambridge grit' rather than our prettier spots - glad it's not just the university anyway. I'll clean my lens this time - unlike my Queen shot last year!
November 27th, 2012
Oh nice and all higgledy piggledy. How come you didn;t take me here?

@lauralatham Opposite Kettle's Yard with my zoom lens - it's hard to get a get POV - for some reason the Zoom worked - maybe because I could avoid some of the traffic lights somehow.
