Who would go punting in this weather?! I was torn between this shot and a wider view which gives the beautiful context but not the snow effect - it looked more like Picnik's mini snow. I thought I'd made a mistake by going out in the afternoon as this morning's snow had started to disappear but I had in mind some 'active snow' shots and the weather forecast didn't let me down. Perhaps half an hour later would have given me whiter pavements but I timed it right for the big flakes. It's a tricky business taking photos with snow falling off your 'uncool' hat, the camera getting wet, a dog in one hand and not being able to see through your specs but we don't get it often and needs must.
Three good things:
1. The snow coming
2. The snow going again
3. Wow - the reaction to my previous shot!!
Another near miss - I have a photo from Clare Bridge of punts from about 15 minutes before this! If you have a shot with someone in a black and white checked coat on the bridge that's me :)
Its mad dogs and Englishmen who go out in? The snow falling makes a beautiful scene. The tree and the punt just give it a contrasting pop of colour. Fav.
@jennywren Actually mostly very hardy Chinese tourists! I don't know if they get limited holidays or they don't realise they are coming in winter or they just don't care!
Needs must indeed...fab shot have fav-ed it and wow what a splendid thing to go punting at this time of year am surprised someone was working at this time of year or was it a private punt...
on a roll with this snow thing! seems to have done your inspiration good!! another fav for me...shall I do a snow dance to bring some for tomorrow too?
@blightygal Oh wow! That must have been taken about half an hour after mine because I saw those girls with the pink umbrella being taken down to the river and they have had to go up the river and then back (and the snow wasn't heavy for very long - I was taking my St John's Street shot at this point). I need to get more proactive in flogging my shots!
How did I miss this?I thought I was well and truly up to date on all your photos. I spotted this one on the PP so thought I'd better pop over and press that fav button! xx
absolutely fantastic shot - and yesterday's but dont have time to scroll down through all those comments!!! Have fav'd both though - you really do get great shots, I'm well jell!
