I think it's probably a sign of middle age (amongst many others that are becoming apparent) but I'm a fan of 'The Cambridgeshire Journal'. Mostly because it's content, as far as I can tell, is limited to cupcakes, nice photos around the county and dogs.....and occasionally hens and full size cakes. In fact I'd like a job on it taking some of the nice photos but their current photographer seems to be managing perfectly well without me. This month has a feature about a local vet and her favourite dog-walking spots (at the forefront of incisive political journalism you see). Anyway Houghton Mill near Huntingdon got the big thumbs up and we haven't been for ages so off we tripped at lunchtime (in our wellies after yesterday's debacle). And we shall be going again - we set off in the wrong direction for the walk we were planning owing to an abject failure to consult the map but we still had a nice walk and there were lots of alternatives.
Three good things:
1. Tomorrow's hockey hasn't been cancelled yet - vest and long johns at the ready
2. Warm shampooey baths for very muddy doggy paws
3. Kindles - disaster averted - missing book required for holiday homework downloaded for 77p
Hooray for the Kindle & money saving offers!!!!
This is a fabulous house, it has a sort of upside down look to it!! Great to see it reflected so beautifully in that still water. Sounds like the Cambridgeshire Journal has it's priorities in perfect order!!
Is this a Mill House? They are always so photogenic! Beautiful reflectons here in that very still river! I smiled at your description putting hens and large cakes together!
Lovely composition, Fav for me. I've gone on many walks in Enfland and gotten lost even when I looked at the map. The Constable Walk comes to mind. Don't know where I'd have ended up if someone hadn't come along. But I"m sure it would have been interesting. Lovely millpond and house there, too.
This is so lovely, and so still. Good idea, maybe a trip will be in order for this half term - must be better than wet and wild at Haverhill Leisure pool. Thanks for the tip off.
Love your diary for today and this ia absolutely glorious!!! Obviously the Cambridgeshire Journal would fire their photographer if they had see your pics!!!
brilliant narrative judith and a gr8 pic too, i think you should 'increase your profile' by offering some of your shots to the journal :) ....... i'm sure they could find a spot for you :)
I love this shot Judith, everything's been said so I will just Fav it! So glad the kindle came to the rescue, they do have their uses! ( only say that because I have abandoned mine to go back to books!)
What a beautiful sight - love the lighting! Haha, kindle to the rescue ;). I used to love to listen to "Radio Cambridgeshire" during breakfast to practise my English and have some company...
Excellent shot with perfect reflections! It looks so peaceful, I think you should enter it for this seek's theme "slow down" (or was it taken too early for that?).
An instant fav for me too. we have been walking there a few years ago when we still had snowy I think I have a photo of it on 365 ( I do miss him Still)
Love your daily thoughts..maybe start a new column !! The milll looks like one house built upon another, a beautiful shot............enjoy the hockey!!
