Photographing planes

We went to the quilt exhibition with mum and dad and since the usual venue (beautiful 16th century barns at Linton) has been totally destroyed in an arson attack it was held at Duxford Air Museum. Ha haa - I thought - great venue for photos but in fact I find I am not a good plane photographer. Also I limited my options a bit too much with the nifty fifty I think. I did get a few nice shots of my dad with the planes he worked on when he was a design engineer though.
Three good things:
1. Nostalgia
2. Meeting friends for Book Group
3. JK Rowling's new book which everybody gave the thumbs up.
I was there on Friday! Yes, it was a great opportunity for the men to be there as well. Actually, I think it's an excellent view - not the typical plane shot at all.

Is that another 365er taking a photo? This is a unique view - I like it!

Gosh, didn't know about the Linton barns, how dreadful. You have done very well with this plane shot!

Nice silhouettes but yes a wide angle might have been useful - planes are quite large! Sounds like you had a lovely weekend.

I think you have got a great look with this silhouette shot. I tried to get the planes when we were there at Christmas but think they are just too big.

@tishpics Yes and I think they only got about two years for it....

Love all the lines in this & the silhouettes.
Such a shame about Linton.

@fueast ha ha no sarcasm intended?!! How appalling to burn the barns......I think this is a cracking shot.great silhouette

Love the silhouette of that cock pit...... the close up gives it more impact & another photographer in the frame too!!
Just a bit of peaked cap in too?

@happypat Yes - or a very big nose ;0)

Like the silhouette and the person in shot adds scale and extra interest :)

Love the POV of the plane - its probably hanging from the roof? I recognise the photographer's stance!

Yep, the bend backward to get everything in the shot pose! I like the silhouettes, too.

I love this dramatic silhouette and the person interacting with the plane. That's such a shame about the historic buildings being torched.

The person has a very typical pose! Gives anyone that 'late term pregnancy' look!

Love this, like a b&w

Like the silhouettes and starkness

This is my husband's favourite subject, he could spend hours! Great shot!

Fab silhouettes. I can imagine the nifty fifty was a little limiting xx

This turned out good. I really like how the plane silhouettes against the window.

judith , the nifty fifty is a gr8 lens but it does limit the composition when you cannot get everything you want in the frame...anyway, super shot and silhouettes here and the framing works !
