I had a fab walk with @lucypics this morning and although Monty disgraced himself by fighting with our friend's dog, Colin, he knows he has to be polite to Saski.
I was dithering about whether to go over to Welney Wetlands because Adam wants videos of wildlife for his art project and I thought I'd do a reccie and see if it's worth him going out there. In the end I checked where it is and realising that it's only a 40 min drive I set off. Well the sun was struggling to come through when I arrived but what a stunning late afternoon it was. A glorious sunset - looking in one direction they were silhouettes and in the other the birds were glowing orange and pink. And the soundtrack was beautiful as well with all the honking and calling. Well worth the entrance fee just for the serenity of the place. I had to leave before the swans really start to fly in for the night - maybe another trip when I don't have to get back.
Three GT:
1. Watching pairs of swans flying home against the red sky on the way back.
2. Not driving into the Fenland ditches while looking at swans flying home (plenty of people unfortunately do).
3. Work and cleaning which were on the agenda will wait till tomorrow.
So pleased you went, this shot is simply amazing. Much better than the kestrel over the Gogs. I wouldn't be so sure Monty started the kerfuffle, Colin has previous! Fav for sure
Beautiful pink & rosy glow over the water......a great idea to go & root out some different shots...I must take myself further afield after Christmas. I am cleaned up but no cards done again. A wonderful time of the year for bird life.
What a gorgeous kerfuffle Judith - the light is gorgeous, as are the birds! Sounds like a wonderful place to spend a day - wouldn't worry about the lack of pheasants! : )
