Green grass & redwing by judithg

Green grass & redwing

Oh I know it's a poor excuse for a photo but I am doggedly sticking to my new rule of not using fillers. I'm quite enjoying the challenge actually even though I have several photos from yesterday that are more exciting. I'm feeling very frustrated by answer machines today - amazing how hard it can be to speak to a human being.
AND I can't believe people have complained about the commentary on the Sochi snow-boarding thing - I thought it was hilarious and everybody was sympathetic about the painful-looking falls.
Four GT:
1. Monty has had his stitches out and was quite the celebrity at the vets which he loved.
2. The garden was full of birdsong when I took him out for his constitutional at lunchtime - and the big black clouds moved elsewhere.
3. I've cleaned my chair legs - my mum will be proud!
4. The water levels along the Cam have receded at least for the time being.
Good day then, pleased re Monty for you.

Great to see small birds, we just have lumping great jackdaws in our garden. The Ouse in Bedford burst it's banks this morning, so I reckon there's more water heading your way...

People are complaining....well they must be short of something to do...I have never heard such enthusiasm & excitement!
You are posting only photos on the day.....that is a challenge if ever I saw one....
I can sympathise with the chair legs I never think to clean mine either until we have visitors!
Not sure if have ever seen a redwing live before...good catch!

Nice sharp eye and I like the composition. So glad Monty continues to mend well

Great shot of a redwing. You don't usually see them on the ground and it's a Fav from me! Great to hear that Monty is coming along OK. I'm sure he enjoyed being spoilt at the Vets even if he didn't like having his stitches out!

A lovely redwing. So pleased to hear Monty is getting on OK. I'm now going to have a look at my chair legs............... What shall I clean them with, I wonder?!

oo who's been complaining?? Great to hear such passion and there's no point in pretending. We were all waiting for that last contestant to hit the deck (without hurting herself of course....)

@fueast >300 official complaints and the rest of the country going, 'What?' As Andy Murray tweeted, 'Is it wrong to hope that everybody else crashes?'

What a lovely bird to see, and loving your 4 GTs. So pleased Monty is on the mend, perhaps he will stop his shaking now the sutures are out. Did you ask about it?
February 10th, 2014
@lucypics I vaguely mentioned it but the vet was too busy cooing over him and telling how brave he's been! There are still bits of stitch stuck in so it might still itch but he's generally been better today. Trouble is he's wanting to do a lot more so we'll have to be careful.

@judithg Well I enjoyed it! Some people have got nothing better to do.

I've never seen this bird before and you have captured it so well, i'll know what it is if I see one now.

Good capture

I haven't mastered the bird shot yet- my zoom is not good! Now I'm going to look at my chair legs! Done my own legs this morning!

A lovely shot. I'm trying not to use fillers this year (I did last year, but not they year before) - I'm finding it easier than 2012 but I don't know how long I can keep it up!

It's cute

Great redwing capture. We don't have these in our garden, but ironically I've seen several on the verge near B&Q!!

I'm trying to stick to a photo taken every day this year too...I think it will be a miracle if I stick to it, but I love a challenge!!

judith, my 365 relies on quite a few fillers (well pics from one day spanning a couple of days)...although my mobile phone shots around Basford are helping me keep the weekdays "proper 365" ....well birdspotted :)

Sounds like a good day - good news re Monty. Love redwings - don't they only come into gardens when conditions are particularly bad in the countryside? We've had them a couple of times but loads of them for only a few minutes before they disappear again!
February 10th, 2014
@taz_o yes this one didn't stay long. We get them on the crabapple trees along the street quite a bit and they do come in to the garden but mostly down at the end where the windfalls are - not often near enough for a shot. They are doing masses of building work in the fields around Cambridge so I suspect birds are looking for new habitats.

Sweet capture. I forgot what grass looks like. LOL Ours is buried under snow. I'm glad Monty is doing well.
February 10th, 2014
But it's such a beautiful bird! So glad to hear Monty is all restored now!
February 11th, 2014
great capture of the redwing, glad Monty is so much better.and well done on shots on the day - I'm trying for daily shots and no fillers, but I'm not managing to get them up on the day - and I've got much nicer shots from yesterday and Sunday than I have today :(
