Church bells by judithg

Church bells

Not quite resting in peace as I took this picture along the passageway that leads into Marks and Spencer Food Hall - it's always fairly busy and I got some very quizzical looks as I peered through the railings. I am really enjoying my new photography book (she does the technical stuff but at a fast pace - no wittering on about aperture for a whole chapter!) and so I ventured into manual settings for this. I'm pleased with the vibrancy of the bluebells but I had a bit of a fail trying to take the neighbour's white heart flower things - too much contrast I think - at least I did better than the auto settings. Also I forgot I was on manual and somehow managed to terrify the neighbour's cat - he ran off through the cat flap after two shots which were way underexposed!
Three GT:
1. I've painted some more of the arbour and I like the colour although it does need another coat :0(
2. I've ordered the new shed - coming in mid May hopefully and we are getting paint colour samples through the post so that's a nice job choosing which ones we want especially as we don't have to do painting or assembly (fair bit of disassembly and ground work to do though).
3. I think I'm just about ready for my trip to Sussex tomorrow - I'm off to the bath to try and soak the paint out of hands and hair - then at some point I should have a go getting it off Monty.
PS - If you're struggling to read it - almost the last words that she distinctly spoke were that she died in peace and Jesus was [waiting] for her to fall into his arms.
Very pretty - I think the context is lovely too; such beautiful script on the headstone.

@helly31 Yes lovely - 200 years old - most of the gravestones have eroded so that they can't be read but this lady was from a wealthy family so her headstone must have been a better stone.

Perfect exposure.... I find bluebells so difficult to capture.... they just love to blow out highlights (or it's probably me :( )

They don't make grave stones like this any more.....marble is so hard & cold. Love this warm stone that blends so beautifully with the ' church bells'. Bluebells out so early...such a welcome sight.
Book sounds interesting , must back track to yesterday. All sounds fresh & new at your place. I have some painting to do very soon! Enjoy Sussex.

This is a wonderful composition and rather touching. I wonder if the bluebells have naturalised here or planted in memory.

@lucypics naturalised I think - loads of them.

Judith, nothing wrong with peering through the railings for a picture :)

This is great: the focus on the bluebells is so sharp, and it's an imaginative composition. Fav.

This is very beautiful - the lilacs did come out nicely. I really have to have another go at manual as well...
