Choices

Book group night and for the last few times I've offered a choice I've done Kindle printouts. This time I thought I should go down to the actual bookshop and buy actual books. I don't know if it's me or if they are doing the displays differently but I didn't find an overwhelming choice. Actually I decided for summer I would go for something fun so I did limit myself a bit. Not that the Jung Chang is particularly fun and I think the yellow one may be fun mixed with trauma! We chose The Fields.
Happy birthday Rachel - 20 - yikes!
That book sounds good. Might look for it on Kindle as I'm actually going to Dublin in Sept!

Happy birthday Rachel....would have been great party in the garden weather! I have just given up on And Sons......can't remember who recommended it but I did try...might go back to,it in the winter. I am reading one from the Kindle borrowers library at the moment...seems OK. Will check out The Fields.

I haven't read those, but I've been thinking about We Are All Beside Ourselves. Isn't that on this year's Booker Prize master list?

@maggiemae Lucky you! I love Dublin. Be sure to take Saint Kevin's Bus and see Saint Kevin's Tower. A lovely ride through the country and a beautiful site.

Ha. I've been reading most of my books on my iPad, but haven't figured out how to recommend books to my book group. It seems we need to pass each one around while we're considering, and be able to read the first line, and heft it. I might try printing out amazon pages :-)

Intriguing choices ... I will now admit to ignorance and say that I haven't heard of any of them! Just been reading the reviews, so thanks for the tips!

Ah yes, I think the Fields was on my list of choices for my Kindle but I didn't go for that one in the end. I read And the Mountains Echoed instead and also The Little Coffee Shop of Kabul.

@busylady I'm enjoying it though I'm wondering if it's a mistake for book club - lots of swearing and let's just say there's a catholic priest in the 80's. I chose it because one of the members is an Irish catholic (she wasn't there) - oops - might send out a warning!
