Sitting

Nipped into the Fitzwilliam Museum this afternoon to see the Virgin of Sorrows by Pedro de Mena. The museum has launched an appeal to try to buy her and she really is rather beautiful. She was made in 1673 if I remember rightly, had glass eyes with eyelashes made from human hair and she sheds glass tears and you just can't help staring at her. Hope they get the money to keep her. We came out of the front door which is always impressive.
Other than that a rather grumpy day taking my car back to the garage for its repair and sorting out piles of paperwork with mountains more to go.
What beautiful architecture! Good shot

You have such culture on your doorstep Judith.......you must be able to wallow in it whereas we only have Pauline in the Yellow Dress alas!
Beautiful mellow stone or marble....all that beautiful cornicing too......on the outside no less! You would feel very grand sitting there!
Hope they get enough money!

@happypat oh but I love Pauline and I don't feel the love for the Fitz that I do for the Harris. It's a bit cold somehow whereas you can relate to the Harris much better.

Impressive building. I'm never sure where's the best place to take a picture form but this really gives a sense of scale especially with the contemplative lady sat there.

@happypat absolutely no photos - such a pain - loads of art galleries are fine so long as you don't use flash but not there. She is amazing.

Super perspective on this building ... the inclusion of a person gives a real sense of size of the building.

Beautiful shot, Judith. The seated figure really gives it scale.

Thanks for the link to the Sorrowing Lady - its lovely to learn about these art treasures. It looks very fine to be carved in wood! Good to see the seated lady to show how big the columns are!

I was really intrigued with this museum - especially as they showed the oldest "Swiss Knife" from Roman times ;)! Love the sense of scale in this shot!

Good composition, adding the figure sitting at the side. Have been meaning to go and see this - somehow I never seem to get round to things!

I would like to thank you, Judith, for your support and comments on my pics. I'm about to end my 365 journey. I've sooo much enjoyed your beautiful Cambridge pics! Thank you for that. I wish you all the best and a little less work ;)
