Camo-fly

A rather hectic start to the day as Rachel was packing up to head off back to university, Adam had to get himself up and organised for school open morning/hockey afterwards and Nigel and I were heading up to Stafford to see his mum for her birthday. Several good things then happened: Rachel arrived safely and so (finally) did the man to install long-promised window blinds so she now can have her curtains open; Adam took the chance to try out some experimental screen-printing whilst also manning the new Mac-suite (with the aid of some YouTube video tutorials to keep prospective new pupils happy apparently!) and the fancy ink worked really well; Nigel's mum's new care home is state of the art, spacious and really rather lovely and has the staff to go with it and Monty who had come with us as doggy day-care was full behaved very well and had a lovely run on Cannock Chase. There was a bank by the side of the path that had all different types of fungi growing on it. Very little time to take photos as Nigel's dad walks so fast - he's 77 going on 30. If I'd had longer I may have spotted the fly and tried a bit harder.
Lovely shot. I took one so similar on Friday that I actually saw this on the homepage and wondered when I'd uploaded it, just for a second!

Lovely focus. I love finding funghi but haven't photographed any since I got my new camera over 9 months ago! Usually I have trouble with the focus. I'll have to go in search of some and see how I fare.

Fungi is fascinating I think.....grows so quickly out of nowhere......I think I like mushrooms & toadstools far better than flowers!
I can't believe Rachel is in her 3rd year? Where has the time gone..she will be very young when she graduates! Messaged Jack at 2am this morning. I was down having a cup of tea & I noticed he was online....seems to be really settled in & getting on with his nine flat mates very well. He is very pleased as his walls are very thick & the girl in the next room can't hear him playing his guitar! There is only one piano though in the whole place...he is going to try & book it once a week. The care home was Nigels mums....how lovely to know she is in a place like that!

@happypat I don't think she really notices her surroundings Pat but it's reassuring that she's in a place that's trying its best and it makes it easier for the care staff. It really annoys me though that they had to reapply for their jobs and they changed to minimum wage even for those with lots of qualifications. We have our priorities wrong in this country - one banker could fund hundreds of carers.

@judithg I agree Judith......carers should be paid much better wages....that's why the care homes are so dire in this country they don't get the staff. Such an important job!

Lovely a shot, full of texture and tones.

I like the way the fungi is hiding there in the underground - almost camouflaged in with the bracken. Sounds as if you had a satisfying day overall.

I love the way the fungus is nestling against the surroundings - wouldn't have spotted the fly if you hadn't told me...
