Every Christmas my neighbour goes home to Thailand and our cat Nala decides that she will come back home to us for her breakfasts. As the rest of the year she enjoys a major amount of pampering next door and never comes home she is regarded as 'foreign' by Monty who kicks up a right old ruckus. We try to confine her to the utility room as, even covered in his crate, Monty knows she's in the house and the woofing is a nightmare. Rafiki on the right is her daughter and very submissive - she got a clout from her mum for attempting to share the bowl. Poor Nala - we feel bad about her moving out but we deliberately got a puppy so that she would be able to lay down the law and if our neighbours hadn't encouraged her in to their house she would have been the one in charge in ours.
I had no idea you had another cat Judith......I agree...people who feed cats encourage them completely. Harry had a go feeding the next door cat in the summer, it was a nightmare as we couldn't leave the door open, he was in marking his area big time. We had to get really tough in the end chasing him off...it was Harry or the cat in the end for me & Lily!
It is so important as to who is boss of the territory and there is generally a dominant one. I think Monty thinks he is the King - don't know how you are going to tip him out of his throne! As you are only 50, you wouldn't have much trouble getting up off the floor from taking this neat photo!
