There'll be none left ;0) This lovely little girl was being encouraged to pick the flowers by her mother. Not English I don't think - we are as obsessive about not picking flowers as we are about queuing. Anyway enough...a new subject tomorrow....probably. And WAHEY- thanks everybody about my Top 20 pic - made my week!!
Sorry the little girl's mother was being so rude as to tell her to pick the flowers, but she adds quite a bit to the photo The flowers are beautiful, but having the little girl in there makes it really sweet. Maybe she's just "smelling" them! :)
Little girls love flowers. I uses to get frustrated whe all the grandchildren would rush around the garden and grab flowers (even roses) and break them off just under the bud! Plenty in this picture but they won't last once picked!
i get disgusted when patients at my workplace let their children not only pick the flowers but tear them apart. They also ruin leaves and break branches while the parents smile at the cuteness of it all. However, she made a good subject for this lovely shot!
Lol, that is good to know if we ever visit England...my kids are constantly picking flowers here in Japan and I am always like no no don't pick them, lol! Very cute shot!
I doubt there would be none left, but I am sure it makes a difference to the plant that got picked!!! Lovely shot though. We'll pretend it was staged and no plants were harmed in the process.
@bmnorthernlight Well you know I was wondering that because the Autumn ones definitely are but then I was thinking that saffron is crocuses. Anyway I'm pretty sure the bulbs are but not sure about the flowers.
sometimes you really want to say something but never do..more is the pity...your pictures this week have broken the weariness of winter...bottoms up to you ...........!!!!
And yes, it is the autumn crocus (or colchicum) that is very poisonous. Different species entirely. The flowers come out in the autumn and the leaves (much bigger and wider than real crocus) come up in the spring. Not to be confused with autumn flowering crocus :-)
@bigsusan55 Aha thanks - the moorhens will be eating them before much longer. I went past today in the warm sunshine and the flowers were practically exploding with excitement - it looked stunning in between all the photographers!
