Don't pick the flowers! by judithg

Don't pick the flowers!

There'll be none left ;0) This lovely little girl was being encouraged to pick the flowers by her mother. Not English I don't think - we are as obsessive about not picking flowers as we are about queuing. Anyway enough...a new subject tomorrow....probably. And WAHEY- thanks everybody about my Top 20 pic - made my week!!
Jo
Oh yes, we don't pick the flowers - how can we all get to enjoy them if everyone picks them? I'd of been scowling! Makes a lovely picture though

beautiful just beautiful!

Lovely and I agree re not picking them. On the other hand maybe she is thinking they will bring delight to her mom?

Sorry the little girl's mother was being so rude as to tell her to pick the flowers, but she adds quite a bit to the photo The flowers are beautiful, but having the little girl in there makes it really sweet. Maybe she's just "smelling" them! :)

What an enchanting shot!

She does add to the photo, it's quite beautiful. We were definitely brought up not to pick the flowers!
February 24th, 2012
No picking flowers? I was brought up not to walk on the grass!!!
February 24th, 2012
It makes for a very sweet shot. When I was little we used to pick bluebells and cowslips - it was allowed then!

Beautiful scene , congratulations on making top 20 Judith well done

Little girls love flowers. I uses to get frustrated whe all the grandchildren would rush around the garden and grab flowers (even roses) and break them off just under the bud! Plenty in this picture but they won't last once picked!

amazing shot congrats on the top 20 :) yay for you

i get disgusted when patients at my workplace let their children not only pick the flowers but tear them apart. They also ruin leaves and break branches while the parents smile at the cuteness of it all. However, she made a good subject for this lovely shot!

Hee
The scenery is beautiful. The human subject add an interesting point in the compo...picking?...i don't even know where to step :D
February 24th, 2012
That's lovely - nice focusing and not-focusing.

Lol, that is good to know if we ever visit England...my kids are constantly picking flowers here in Japan and I am always like no no don't pick them, lol! Very cute shot!

Love this shot - very well captured!
February 25th, 2012
Great shot - but oh what sacriledge!! Quick get her off, the porter's'll be chasing her off with oddjob style bowler hat throws!
February 25th, 2012
I doubt there would be none left, but I am sure it makes a difference to the plant that got picked!!! Lovely shot though. We'll pretend it was staged and no plants were harmed in the process.

Fabulous shot! So sweet :)
February 25th, 2012
Aww I love this!! Very cute!
February 25th, 2012
This is so pretty. In Texas it is law that you can't pick the state flower, Bluebonnets.
February 25th, 2012
Charming shot. I know she shouldn't, but she does look cute!
February 25th, 2012
Lovely - like the blur too! :)
February 25th, 2012
Love it! You always seem to get just the right human interest in your photos!
February 25th, 2012
Glad your other crocus shot made it to top 20. Congratulations!
February 25th, 2012
Love this shot (not her being encouraged to pick the flowers...and anyway aren't they actually poisonous??) Great what you've done with the blur!
February 25th, 2012
@bmnorthernlight Well you know I was wondering that because the Autumn ones definitely are but then I was thinking that saffron is crocuses. Anyway I'm pretty sure the bulbs are but not sure about the flowers.
February 25th, 2012
@judithg Yeah, you might be right about it only being the autumn ones. Will have to ask my mum, she always knows stuff like this!
February 25th, 2012
sometimes you really want to say something but never do..more is the pity...your pictures this week have broken the weariness of winter...bottoms up to you ...........!!!!
February 25th, 2012
Gorgeous shot! Fav from me.
February 25th, 2012
She does look sweet doing it even though I'd like to throttle the mother. Like the limited focus.
February 26th, 2012
And yes, it is the autumn crocus (or colchicum) that is very poisonous. Different species entirely. The flowers come out in the autumn and the leaves (much bigger and wider than real crocus) come up in the spring. Not to be confused with autumn flowering crocus :-)

@bigsusan55 Aha thanks - the moorhens will be eating them before much longer. I went past today in the warm sunshine and the flowers were practically exploding with excitement - it looked stunning in between all the photographers!
February 26th, 2012
Awesome capture. That girl is so cute, great find. Love your DOF
February 26th, 2012

February 26th, 2012
I'm amazed she's allowed on the grass, let alone to pick the flowers! it makes for a beautiful photo though.
