Oh nice! Is that Wing near Leighton Buzzard? There's a nice pub there called The Cock.......also have friends there. The rape is well coloured here too...seems a tad early...maybe due to the previous dry conditions. This has so much to look at and a real sense of depth.....a fave.
Never seen rapeseed but it looks a bit like the yellow mustard flowers that grow in wild profusion among the grape vines in the Napa Valley. Rapeseed seems just as lovely.
@meisen325@glb484 Very similar I should think - the rapeseed is harvested for oil - a relatively new crop for the uk and controversial as a lot of people don't like the vibrant yellow and it escapes all over. Personally as it comes early in the season I quite like the huge tracts of yellow.
@meisen325@glb484 Rapeseed and Mustard are pretty much the same thing. In the US the oil is called Canola and is used in cooking much more than in UK. I had some organic rapeseed oil a while back and it was really delicious!
There are lots of similar yellow flowers out here in Crete at the moment, have been out for a while now. Here as a wild flower it's called White Mustard, even though the flowers are yellow! Guess it must be the colour of the seed. We will see...
Very lovely pic Judith, by the way!!! I love the composition with the gate, the wobbly fence post and the signpost. Almost makes me miss England at this time of year!!
