Summer Book Club for One

I was so startled to see a child reading an actual BOOK instead of texting, I just had to take a picture to reassure myself that I wasn't dreaming! (Sleeping Bear Dunes, Lake Michigan)
This is spectacular. And I'm not just saying that because I'm a librarian! A fav.

This is so cool. Have been wanting to get to Sleeping Bear Dunes for some photo's too. Love the scale of this, with the boy on the end of the pier. Great composition, too. Fav

Yeah no doubt. Good to see kids read. Probably was a kindle, and he was probably playing Angry Birds.... or Minecraft.

It's too bad that lighthouse is cut off though. I'd really like a composition stretched horizontally with the kid at the end... including the top of the light house... OR, alternately, a tight crop that includes the kid and the building... but that cuts off on the right side of the building RIGHT along the edge, and across that rusty top section before the cut off section. AND maybe do a little dodge and burn to blur the background out a little bit.

@adambralston Thank you, Adam! No, it really is a book - I spied on him for a couple of minutes to be sure. :) I did take an alternate photo that included the entire lighthouse, but the child was so small I could barely see him. Also, I wanted the Dunes in the background on both sides of the lighthouse for dramatic effect. Anyhoo . . . :)

That is a great sight! Love the photo, fantastic composition with that little person against that huge structure. And he has red shorts on... perfect!

This is absolutely incredible. How'd he get out there. And so GLAD to see a book -- or Kindle, or whatever! At least he's reading. Awesome find.

@aglennc Thank you so much, Anita! It's the end of the pier, so he just walked out there. It's a great place to go, jump off, and swim. And . . . it really is a genuine BOOK! Ha ha! :)
