@helstor Thanks, Helge! No, this is a different one. I see one almost every time I go out now that it's spring. Just am not often allowed to get close enough for a snap. Some of them actually come right up to the camera, which I love! :)
@jeanniec57 Thank you, Jeannie! Snakes are very essential creatures - I always cringe when I hear of them being killed - the harmless ones anyway. I'm kind of known at work as the critter lady, too - I'm a kindergarten teacher! Ha ha ha! :)
@juliedduncan I am an educator, teacher, naturalist... and environmentalist... even the venomous snakes need not be killed,either. I am sure your kindergartners would love to see that snake. One of the best parts of my job is showing snakes to the kids.

and I do agree - venomous snakes should never be killed just because they are venomous. removing predators has always been one of the worst environmental moves humans makes over and over again
