@lifeat60degrees - I came to Somerset at the beginning of the seventies and have been here ever since ... it's not changed that much, at least not this area!

@woofandweft1 - yes, it is great for dog walking, but the one disadvantage is that spaniels can't resist water and including the rhynes (or drainage ditches) from which she emerges covered in thick, black, smelly mud!
@novab - on the other side of the trees is the wide expanse of marshy grassland known as the Somerset Levels or wetlands!
@jomo - Yes, I thought that when I posted it. Quite different areas but the same slant on POV
@thewatersphotos It leads across the Levels as access to various fields for the farmers. I'm not sure if it used to join up with any other thoroughfare but this one now just ends after a while
