When most other plants are shutting down for the winter Ivy starts to flower! Which makes it popular with insect life, providing valuable pre-hibernation nectar to give them a better chance of surviving the winter.

@woofandweft1 - Thanks Deborah. Yes this is definitely what it looks like :) There are lots of things around that we just get so used to that we don't look up close - getting up close with the camera can be rewarding and surprising!
