Female Catkins by julienne1

Female Catkins

On 9th April I posted a picture of the Goat Willow's male catkins ( http://365project.org/julienne1/365/2016-04-09 ) - these are the female version! Goat Willows are dioecious which means that the male and female catkins grow on separate trees..
Have never seen these catkins before, they are rather strange looking. Lovely detailed shot.
