Pale Tussock moth caterpillar - Calliteara pudibunda

I've never seen one of these weird little caterpillars before. It was quite large - about 2.5 inches long. When it unrolled a bit to walk the dramatic black stripes disappeared - so I opted for one with it curled up after my grandson blew on it!
It looks like a fly fishing lure because its so perfect and the colors are so strange! Love it
