Hazel flower

It's lovely to see these tiny female hazel flowers so early in the year. They really are very small and will be wind-pollinated by the male catkins. They don't usually appear until February at the earliest but, like several other wild flowers, they seem to be appearing much earlier in recent years.
So unusual, reminds me of Medusa.
