Patiently waiting in the reeds

I posted a picture of this pair of Great Crested Grebes doing their courtship head nodding back in February http://365project.org/julienne1/365/2018-02-25 . They are now contentedly sharing incubation duties for a clutch of eggs. There are certainly at least 3 eggs that I glimpsed as the male changed places with the female.

Do you have any idea when the parents expect their baby grebes?

Our local Grebes have deserted their fans so to see a nesting pair is bitter sweet. Your Mr & Mrs can expect their striped babies after about 40 days incubation. I look forward to see them.

This is wonderful, at least yours are doing it at the right time of the year. Some of our Coots have just had chicks, winter is just around the corner.
