Beech nuts

Lots of these on the forest floor just now. They are quite good to eat but if you eat too many raw they will upset your stomach! Apparently roasting them improves the flavour and destroys the toxin that irritate the stomach .... but I've never tried

The internet is a wonderful class room, I didn't know about roasting beech nuts but confess I'd never eaten one. It's a lovely image
