Starlings (left) and lapwings (right) coming in to settle down for the night at Ham Wall RSPB reserve. It's just not possible to convey the awesome sight of over several million starlings all trying to find the perfect reed to roost on. Watching them come in flock after flock descending on the reed beds of the Avalon Marshes all at once is just incredible .... and the noise is deafening!
