Ghostly webs

Some of the hedgerows round here are covered in these silky webs. They are produced by the Spindle Ermine moth's caterpillars (so named because the caterpillars enjoy Spindle leaves). They eat the foliage voraciously but it's surprising how quickly the hedge recovers when the caterpillars pupate and in a couple of months you wouldnt know they'd been there.
Wow - is it normally that prolific?
