Ivy's bounty by julienne1

Ivy's bounty

It's been a glorious, sunny October day. The sun's warmth has at last brought the ivy into flower and the hedgerows where it grows were teeming with insects. Ivy is a vital autumn food plant for insects when there are few other sources of nectar and pollen. This Peacock butterfly was one of many visiting the ivy umbels today.
That's a spectacular picture! And I really enjoy your informative commentary. It is much appreciated and adds to the imagery!
