Autumn berries 11: Sloes

Sloes are the berries of Blackthorn. They are a relative of plums and damsons but are very sharp when eaten and make your mouth very dry.
But.... left until they have been "frosted" they can be picked and used to make DELICIOUS sloe gin. I can certainly recommend it!
That's quite interesting to learn.

Lovely shot. Blackthorn is good for tinctures and as an addition to jams
