It is a very serious business being a Calf Club Judge.. This was taken at the District Ag Day.. Abby and her Calf 'Long Legs Chocolate Brownie' getting the once over by the Judge, no stone is left unturned and all aspects of the calf are checked... here he is checking the vital parts of a dairy cow.. the teats.. making sure they have only 4 and that the placement is nice and even.. She doesn't really look as if she is happy about that.. Abby went on and got a 2nd place for leading .. so another proud Nana moment...
@happypat He is Pat, do you have anything like this at schools over there, .. I think it could be unique to NZ.. Max will love it when he is at school.. though I guess he would have a lamb..
@julzmaioro no nothing like this at our schools Julz...half the kids don't know where a lamb chop comes from!z, The school my two grandchildren went to in !ancasrpter has its own farm though. They rear their own meat, eggs & generally learn all abut where our food comes from . All the pupils took part in helping run the farm although there is a full time man to run it. Pretty unique in the UK though.
Abby is really holding on there - she seems so little to be coping with a big calf, but obviously is very competent if she managed a second placing at Group Day. Well done, Abby!
Great shot - with nice color. How fun to participate in that - our 4H is quite big here and I enjoy watch the kids show their animals at the yearly Fair. Big deal for them.
