I was sitting in having a coffee on my Sister's deck when I noticed that the butterfly's were very busy on her dahlia's.. there seemed to be about 7-8 on the one plant at any one time... but as it goes as soon as I approached with the camera they all fluttered off, these two did come back and stuck around long enough for me to get a shot..
These are Monarch butterfly's ... the adult of the catapillar from yesterday's shot..
In the 1950's the Monarchs would swarm and darken the Texas sky as they migrated south. Now we still have some Monarchs but nothing like those incredible swarms. I'm sure there were millions of them back then. This is a beautiful photo.
