While walking on the beach I was taken with all the pretty shells .. lots that we do not have on the beaches around here .. the size of the Paua ( Abalone) were amazing .. we had Paua for tea cooked in different ways several nights of our holiday..If you asked me before this holiday if I liked Paua I would of said no.. but I have been converted.. even had Paua Wonton... delicious...
Total magic Julz, you have an amazing eye and an ability to see how something day-to-day can become a beautiful photo. As the eating bit, I love abalone/paua, but rarely get to eat any. It's hideously expensive here because most of the small catch goes to China, presumably at a very high price.
@julzmaioro Of course not, you're a sensible woman, but you need to be close to the point of supply to get decent prices on abalone/oysters/crayfish etc, etc. A rip-off further down the supply chain.
@golftragic had all those offered but not so keen on the oysters.. we had a guy walk through the pub one night with a box full of crayfish.. and real big ones.. he cooked them up for his building team for lunch.. pretty tough job...
@louannwarren yes lucky we don't have to go through customs.. so bought shells home plus found some sea glass and also petrified sharks teeth.... they are pretty amazing.. there is a lagoon on the island that was formed after an earthquake many moons ago and the sharks hot trapped.. now the teeth are eroding out of the shoreline and they can be found in the water after so.e rough weather.. I have a couple that i may get a necklace made.. they ate a purple/black colour.. @kwind@onewing@yorkshirekiwi@golftragic
