On Saturday night while on our Camera Club workshop we were lucky enough for the forcast thunder storms didn't start till a bit later in the night so we were able to do the Light painting that we had planned .. This is one done with steel wool.. alot of our group had not seen this before so there were lots of 'Ou's and Ah's ' when they saw the image on the back of the camera.. pretty pleased with this shot.. the spark did not bounce as much as usual as the ground was pretty wet..
Such a fun thing to do ..
@ludwigsdiana@shutterbug49 It all sounds a bit weird .. but get some commercial grade steel wool .. 00-0000 .. tease it out a little and pack it inside a wire kitchen whisk... and clip that on to a a short dog chain .. get some brave sole preferably in dark clothing and light the steel wool .. it doesn't flame but sparks ... now spin .. photographer has camera on tripod on about 10 -30 sec.. this one was 13 sec F10 100 ISO.. It is fun to see what turns out ..
@julzmaioro Thanks for the detailed directions. I will have to wait for the rainy season since we are in very high fire danger right now. I think my photo club would love to do this.
@shutterbug49 Yes I don't want to be responsible for a fire .. a safer version can be achieved with using fairy light on a stick ( battery powered) or some LED finger lights ( from a $2 shop) put on a stick a twirled..
I have no idea how you do this, if I had guessed I would have gone down the sparkler fire work route but obviously very wrong...wire wool 😳. Very effective!
