Eerie Summers Day.. by julzmaioro

Eerie Summers Day..

This afternoon the light in the sky has been very eerie with a drift of the Australian bush fires reaching us 2,161 k's away ... I feel very sorry for our 'neighbours' and can't imagine what they are going through .. These photo's were taken at around 2.30 in the afternoon and it is near dark having to have the lights on in the house .. Keep safe you people in Australia I hope you get rain very soon to put an end to this disaster..
Welcome to our world for the last few weeks. I don’t remember what fresh air smells like or blue sky looks like but I am thankful because so many have it much worse.

Great photos by the way.

OMG, I knew you folks were getting our smoke but didn't realise it was this bad. My 'little' sister lives down the coast near the big fires and it was black outside at 10am.

A wonderful set of shots but I am devastated! We saw the German news last night and I cried! They said around 480 million species have died in the fires, not to mention the poor citizens who have died or lost everthing. So hearbreaking, the world is praying, but the fires are getting worse .

What a telling shot, I can't image how it must be for the folks near the seat of the fire.

Awful fires, awful scenes of devastation and affecting countries so far away too
January 5th, 2020
This is incredible. It does show the magnitude of the situation.
January 5th, 2020
that distance really emphasises how dreadful these fires are

That is a scary sight Julz.....feeling so much for Australia....her people are losing homes, whole communities & all they love. Let’s hope that people begin to realise that climate change is a serious business. I notice Brian & Lesley’s plane has flown over Brisbane instead of Sydney, I image they are diverting flight direction because of the smoke. I looked on Flightradar24 & there seems to be a sort of plane free area around the fire zones.

@happypat yes it is frightening and feel so sad for our Aussie neighbours.. saw a clip yesterday of a farmer having to dispatch his dairy cows as they were caught in the fire. 😥
