Re visited some of my shots from the South Island last month. I love the old stone bridges that are unique to the area.. This one is just out of Ophir and the road leading up to the bridge is cut between huge rocks, and very narrow so how small car did not have much room to spare.. A mirror was on the rock face so that you could see if anything else was coming..
Recognised this straight away. We watched a woman approach the bridge from this side driving a four wheel drive towing a big, long caravan. She stopped for ages wondering if her vehicle would fit going across the bridge. To back up wasn't an option because of the narrow road and the bend in the road. Finally she had to face her fears and drive across as a vehicle pulled up on the far side to cross. Fortunately she and her vehicles made it safely across without incident.
