Just around tehis corner is the old Maltingd buildo=ing .. now restored as a community centre , where the hops were soaked m dried and toasted to give the strong flavour to the beer.
Incidentally I found out the by definition an ale contains only herbs and spices. NO hops.
Only beers have hops , but we all get the two confused, partly because ale sounds so much more old fashioned and refined..
