In support of LiveSTRONG Day Oct 2, 2010 I post this photo.
If you trace the outline of the wings of my butterfly you will find a HEART.
My sister, Nancy, is a Breast Cancer Survivor. She just recently celebrated her one year anniversary of the end of her chemo treatments. Two of my co-workers are also Breast Cancer Survivors.
Unfortunately, as a nurse, and as a person I have known dear "sisters" who have lost their struggle with this disease.
My HOPE is for the day very soon that there is CURE for breast cancer; but more than that I HOPE for the day that there might be a vaccine that would PREVENT the disease. I HOPE for a day when there will be no fear of the words "you have breast cancer"; when there will be no need for Pink Ribbons. Impossible -- you say? There was a day when a vaccine to prevent polio was considered Impossible --which proves that all things might be possible. We can HOPE and PRAY.
I also post this photo @ For Barbara Harris. My heart is filled with love................I give you my heart :o) http://www.winosandfoodies.com/2010/10/i-give-you-my-heart-for-livestrong-with-a-taste-of-yellow.html
Thanks Bonnie, I'm glad to be a 1 year breast cancer survivor. I wish I hadn't had to go thru that but I'm glad to be on the other side of it. Hope it never comes back!
A beautiful photo and a great dream. So many women have walked this path. Despite the numbers and the support of others, it is a lonely journey. Like you, I hope medical advances will continue to improve the odds for every woman.
A lovely shot - the light is so pretty and the colors lovely. I like the composition. You could to a series of shots with this one and a couple even closer cropped. It would make a great collage. Wonderful tribute as well. And, thanks for your comments on my photos. Horicon Marsh is immense and inspiring. Wisconsin is a beautiful state with surprisingly varied terrain. Hundreds or more lakes, huge forests, prairies, hills, and marshes. Not to mention weather extremes. You should try it some time.
@wac thank you for this suggestion. I have posted alot of butterfly photos this season and was hestitant to post one more. My sister @Frances and I are planning to make a coffee table book of all butterfly photos we have done this season. I think I will take your suggestion and use it in my pages of the book.
Bonnie, this photo is just stunning! I love everything about it. And your words are so full of your heart .... so moving. I know your heart has been affected even more deeply from this disease, just because of all the patients you have cared for and lost. This is a fav for me, too.
Beautiful tribute & lovely colours in the photo. I guess no one can say now that they have not been touched by cancer. We all have friends & relatives that have suffered breast cancer & either survived or succumbed.
