An Italian Macro by jyokota

An Italian Macro

18 hours of travel, door to door, exhausted -- but wait -- I can't go to bed without shooting my macro for the last day of ONS3. Tried so many things in my room but nothing worked out. Even tried sticking my head in the hallway and shooting the fire alarm. Or at least that's what I think it was. Then I found this little bottle in the refrigerator. Great color! Great size! And suddenly, I went from "get it done" to trying out all kinds of settings and learning what worked and didn't work and ultimately shooting in Manual (gasp!) after checking the settings the camera suggested but didn't work. (Why is it that sometimes you push down to take the photo but the camera won't take the photo? Is it, "no, bad settings" or "no, I don't want to" or ???)

Once again, thanks to Jerry for the challenge!
Nice shot...I like the shape of the bottle as well as the colour. I find, usually, that if the camera won't let the shutter release it's because I am too close for focusing. I have the same camera...the little green light at the bottom right when looking thru the viewfinder keeps blinking.

@lynnb -- oh so that's why it worked when I moved into manual focus? I never knew why the camera was saying "no" to me. :) Thanks! I played around a bit with the camera, backed up, and zoomed the lens, and it worked better!

Simple and lovely. Interesting lines and form. I really enjoy reading your descriptions, too. Since I am a beginner and intent on learning as much through this experience as possible, it's very helpful to follow your thought process and the approach you took to your image.
