I spent the entire day in this room at the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian in Lisbon, Portugal. This interesting foundation owns a museum, has an orchestra, and funds a variety of programmes focusing on arts, charity, education, and sciences. Upon entering the room, I was struck by the shapes of the chairs on the sides -- they were all angled to face the stage, as there were seats on three sides of the stage. They looked rather "Star Trek-ish" in their sleek, angled style. Although I photographed those side chairs first, I only took one photo and I didn't like the angle from which I took the shot so I ended up choosing the ones that were more traditionally centered as the photo to post. Lesson: take more photos of interesting subjects from different angles so you have more than one to choose from! Other than a little straightening, this is sooc -- yes, even the egg-yolk yellow color!

Thanks, all! I ended up posting this in my "favorite photos of the week" discussion because it was a surprise to me that people liked this photo when I thought it was merely a "gotta get a photo today and I'm stuck in the basement of this building all day . . ."
I too find this shot very appealing! I think its the combination of texture, colour, shape, repetition and lines formed that really appeals to me. I am a newbie to this site and was just looking around and came across your photos! Lovely work!
@jyokota went back to find this. Your comment about taking the shot while stuck in the basement has me laughing. It's still one of my all-time favorite photographs:)
@darylo -- so sweet of you to seek out a photo from year one! And now that I've learned so much from others, I wonder how @rosiekerr would "straighten" out this image -- in other words, I straightened by the backs of the seats, but there's something a bit unsettling about it -- I wonder if the chairs were slightly arced and I should have put an even amount of space on each side of the backs of the chairs.
