Maastricht's "new" bridge by jyokota

Maastricht's "new" bridge

This was taken on a late night walk over the new bridge to return to the hotel after an evening event and dinner. I knew this was an image that fit what I was looking for but because I was walking with a group, I had to hurriedly take a step forward and press the shutter at the same time to capture the image without people walking in it. At my Apple Lesson, Carl suggested turning it into a b & w to make it more striking.

August Book Club: Abstracting and Selecting. p. 59:
"Abstracting is recognizing both the basic form of something and the elements that make up that form.. . . spot the visual elements (line, shape, texture, perspective) . . . understand the role they play in composition."

Amazing composition - especially for getting on the run! Really do like the B&W choice too.

Very effective in B&W. Also there are some very interesting lines in this shot which really draw the eye.

Fantastic monochrome -- definitely a great decision. The lines in this are wonderful and the b&w makes them pop.

Very well abstracted, each shape is strong by itself, but they also form a coherent whole.
