Named for the man who bequeathed five houses for Munich to have a beautiful public swimming pool, this Art Noveau building is without doubt, the most beautiful swimming pool I have ever swam in. I brought my mother to swim here for her 80th birthday. Later, a colleague and I came for the sauna/steamroom/hot tub facilities. I had no clue that it was mixed bathing because in Japan it is separated by gender, but once I took off my glasses, I couldn't see anyone so I figured they couldn't see me either.
Still walking around Munich at night with my camera, thanking Carol W for my get-pushed challenge because I have rarely photographed this city at night!
@sturnus -- your challenge has helped me see the city with fresh eyes, and a camera in hand! This one doesn't project midnight but I wanted to thank you for your challenge.
@jyokota I'm so glad that you enjoyed the challenge and I love your story about the mixed bathing. This is a wonderful shot and that dark blue sky is so beautiful. The clock and its surrounding sculptures are gorgeous. What a lovely building!
You've done a spectacular job with the challenge, and I thank you for the tours!!! Oh, and if I can't see, I guess no one can see me either (I am blind without my glasses). I am reading a book set in Japan "The Street of a Thousand Blossoms" and there is a character named Junko in it AND there is a child who believes she can go into invisible mode (it's probably one of the most endearing and haunting ideas I've seen in a character given the context). Made me think of that randomly when you mentioned taking off the glasses and not having others see you as a result. Again, thanks for the tour at night! When I did my photo this week called "Midnight" I was thinking of you! :)
@darylo I loved that book, by the way!
Junko -- what a great series of shots you've done. I love this one especially with the lighting and the blue hour sky. It's really stunning!
PS -- sitting at ORD waiting for delayed flight to SFO. Remembering what I didn't like about travel!
