Kaki +++++ by jyokota

Kaki +++++

I love persimmons. The taste is singular -- and divine. They taste like Japan to me, and until more recently, it was hard to get them in the United States. One time, @vankrey and I were in Japan in the fall and I could see persimmons hanging in trees all around us, but I hadn't had a chance to eat one. I asked at the school, and people said, "Kaki (persimmons) are something you have in your yard or a neighbor's yard and you don't buy them anywhere." I was desperate to eat one. I asked a friend to bring me one and she asked, "kaki, as in oysters? or kaki, as in persimmons?" Getting this fruit was such a production. She did bring me delicious persimmons, a portable cutting board and knife. Yum. And now in the USA, you can get a big package of them at Costco.

+ Bird plate (@Taffy 's dishes I love so much and I have a few pieces of them)
+ Japanese basket vase (gift from an uncle)
+ dried flower arrangement from Ixia
+ Japanese woven mat from Habu Textiles
+ Japanese warehouse door (featured in previous photo by itself)
A beautiful still life shot. I've seen persimmons in the supermarket but I don't think I've ever eaten one.

Lovely and thoughtful still life. The orange in the plate and flower arrangement complement the persimmons wonderfully.

A very tastefully arranged display. Love the way the orange colors all blend together so nicely.

Very beautifully composed still life. They sit together very harmoniously and the oranges are warm and sumptuous.

Ahhh, I love persimmons. Grew up with a persimmon tree in the local park. Ate them. My dog loved the ones that fell to the ground. Lovely, lovely display. I want that plate!
