Chez Nous by jyokota

Chez Nous

Our concierge booked us tables at this absolutely charming restaurant, and as soon as we stepped out of our cabs and walked into this delightfully atmospheric courtyard, I knew we were in for a special evening. I loved being able to see into the kitchen as we entered this house from the 1800s. Their handwritten menu had two choices for dinner. Memorably wonderful.

Love the darkness. Has a surreal feeling to it!

What a great view of the kitchen! I love Charleston and haven't been there in ages.

What an experience! It would have a great reputation and make lots of profit with only two choices - I like that idea!

I like the view into the brighter kitchen, with the hint of pattern of the glasses. Great shot.

Pat Conroy one of my favorite authors sets some of his books in Charleston and so does Dorthea Benton Frank. Reading these books I have always thought how nice to visit the area. Almost think this restaurant has been in a book I read.

I really like the way you've composed this shot Junko. The light gradient from front to back leads my eye right into that kitchen. It sounds like a real find.

B&W is perfect for this shot. It's so interesting that despite being quite dark, there's something rather warm about the feeling you've created.

Such interesting lighting. Charleston is now famous for its restaurants as never before.
